A Pulaski man was honored by city officials for entering a smoked fill home and saving the life of a 86 year old woman on Victoria Street.

Terry Russ of Pulaski entered the home on June 9th after observing smoke from a window and found wheel-chaired bound Dorothy Hardison unable to exit. He quickly moved her to the doorway, so Pulaski's PSO's could remove her to safety.

Russ's wife, Nancy,  was also recognized for her calm and clear thinking during the incident and alerting 911 dispatcher to the home.

Pulaski Fire Department Chief Don Collins said a lit candle had fallen over in the bedroom and setting the room on fire.

Members of the Hardison family also gathered with officials to express their gratitude and to honor Russ and his wife for their quick thinking and calmness they showed during the rescue.
