Minor Hill School principal was named acting Director of Schools in Giles County.

Dr. Vickie Beard accepted the nomination during a special call meeting Monday evening before a full house at the Central Office.

Director of Schools Phillip Wright,  was injured in a fall at the central office a few months ago and is now on medical leave until further notice.

According to Board Member Richie Brewer, workers compensation insurance is paying for Wright's medical bills and he remains on another year contract as director of schools.

"Wright remains under doctor's care and is recovering at home, so we need someone as acting director to make sure Giles County School system goes forward, Brewer added.

When asked if Wright  had filed a lawsuit, Brewer replied not to his knowledge.

Beard will take over the new position immediately and School Board's attorney will write her new 2 year contract and it will be presented at the next School Board meeting on July 11th.

She has been principal at Minor Hill School for seven.

Dr. Rose Brown was also nominated for the position.
