CHRISTINA HOBBS REPRESENTING GIVE A KID A CHANCE GAVE AN INTERESTING PRESENTATION AT THE LAWRENCEBURG ROTARY CLUB ON FRIDAY. HOBBS ADVISED THE MINISTRY IS A NON-PROFIT, NON-DENOMINATIONAL, SERVICE-BASED ORGANIZATION CONSISTING OF VARIOUS CHURCHES IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING BAPTIST, METHODIST, CHURCH OF GOD, CATHOLIC AND INDEPENDENT, ALL INVOLVED WITH HELPING UNDERSERVED FAMILIES. ITS GOAL IS FOR CHILDREN TO BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL WITH CONFIDENCE AND WITH THE SUPPLIES THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT SCHOOL AND ULTIMATELY SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE.  GIVE A KID A CHANCE PROVIDES A BACKPACK FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES, NEW SHOES, A BIBLE, LUNCH, VISION SCREENING, HEARING SCREENING, AND A HAIRCUT TO NEEDY CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES K – 12.  DUE TO COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS, THE SCREENING PROGRAMS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED THIS YEAR, BUT APPROXIMATELY 540 CHILDREN WILL RECEIVE BACKPACKS IN 2020.  FUNDING AND OTHER SUPPORT COMES FROM LOCAL CHURCHES, CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES, AND INDIVIDUALS.
