Lawrence County Sheriff John Myers and several deputies assisted Lawrenceburg City Police Officers Tuesday afternoon in a pursuit that spanned two counties. Sheriff Myers and units from the Sheriff’s Department became involved in the matter around 2 p.m. after initial contact was made with the subject by city police officers. The suspect was pursued from Lawrenceburg (Lawrence County), west to the Natchez Trace, then south to near the Collinwood, TN (Wayne County) exit. The pursuit ended when the subject ran off the road around 2:30 p.m. The individual was apprehended after a short foot chase from the scene of the vehicle crash.

Sheriff Myers comments that this event further strengthens the Sheriff’s Department’s role of assisting other agencies in times of need. “Working as a team is a vital part of this organization and law enforcement in general. We will always assist other departments in any matter on any day. Today was no different.”

Charges against the subject will be processed by the Lawrenceburg Police Department who is spearheading the investigation into this matter therefore the suspect’s identity will not be released by the Sheriff’s Department. All further media inquiries need to directed to LPD.
