Thomas E. Long, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 12th, 2022. He passed away at NHC Nursing Home in Pulaski, TN, after a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by parents, James T. Long and Martha Ethel Vanhoozer Long; sisters. Thelma L. Cron, Edith Gelene Long and Frances L. Hill; brothers: Joseph C. Long and Robert D. Long.

He is survived by 2 brothers, J.B. Long of Columbia, TN and Van K. Long (Maylene) of FL, nieces and nephew.

Thomas was born on March 2, 1920 in Limestone County, Alabama and he lived in Giles County his entire life. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War ll (1942-1945) as an Automotive Mechanic 2nd Echelon. He was stationed in the European Theatre of Operations for 31 months. After his time of military service, Thomas returned home to work on the farm. He later worked at Chemstrand-Monsanto in Decatur, Alabama and retired with 25 years of service. Thomas was a lifelong United Methodist and very involved in his church at Elkton United Methodist. His love for Jesus, singing and generosity is what will be remembered most about him. ln his later years, he was a resident at the Keestone Hewitt House and then at NHC Pulaski. The family would like to thank the staffs at NHC Pulaski, Caris Hospice and the Hewitt House for their kind and compassionate care. The Funeral will be at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home on Thursday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. with Visitation 1 hour prior to the Funeral. Burial will be at Elkton Cemetery
