Senior Chief Petty Officer Michael S. Kolb of Prospect, died October 20th in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but grew up in Prospect in Giles County. 

He graduated from Giles County High School in May 1995 and enlisted in the United State Navy in August 1995.

His personal awards include six awards of the Navy Achievement Medial, the Armed Forces Service Medal and various campaign and unit awards. 

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov.1st at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.

Visitation also will be held noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2nd with funeral services following at 2 o'clock at Columbia Parkway Baptist Church in Columbia. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens, in Columbia, with full military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Thompson Kolb of Prospect; sons: Michael and Marcus, both of Prospect; step-daughters: Brittany Collins and Jaclyn Collins, both of Columbia; parents, Mike and JoAnn Kolb of Prospect; sisters: Bonnie Kolb and Jessica Lovett, both of Nashville; and 5 grandchildren.
