Edith Virginia Simpson passed away on September 21, 2018, at her home in Minor Hill, TN. She was born in Webster Springs, West Virginia on December 22, 1935. She was a member of the Minor Hill First Baptist Church, served in the United States Army, and was a retired nurse. She was an avid gardener and cook. She enjoyed blessing others with the bounty of her garden and kitchen. She was also an animal lover who enjoyed the company of her three cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Opha and Edith Losh, her husband, Willis Simpson, and her son, Freddy Mankins, as well as several siblings.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marcia Mankins; grandson, Josh (Cassie) Mankins; granddaughter, Erin Mankins (fiancé- Terry Miles); and great granddaughter, Adleigh Mankins. She is also survived by her sisters: Grace Neeley, Vada Cool, Lucy Riker, Ruth (Ardings) Carpenter, and Carol (David) Roosa, her brother: Bud (Loretta) Losh. Special friends: Angie Buchannan, Jackie, Dinon, and Andret Dinon. Her “adopted” sons and daughter: Max Smith, Debbie and Kerry Gowan, and David Franks as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
