April 8th, 2024, one of the most publicized events as of late will take place. The moon will temporarily block all sunlight in parts of the United States for a solar eclipse.

While our area won’t be in the direct “path of totality,” it will be in the 85-90% sector.

You can view the eclipse around 2:00pm, but it will not be as dark as the last solar eclipse in 2017.

According to NASA, most places along the “path of totality” will experience a duration between 3.5 and 4 minutes. The longest duration will be 4 minutes, 28 seconds, near Mexico.

The next total solar eclipse in the U.S. won’t come until 2044.
