Captain John P. Bub, a native of Pulaski, Tennessee, and 1985 Giles County High School graduate celebrated a change-of-command ceremony for Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron (MPSRON) Three.
During the ceremony, Bub relieved Captain Mark Schram as commodore of MPSRON-3.
Bub will be commodore for two years at MPSRON-3, stationed in Naval Base Guam, to ensure mission readiness for 16 Military Sealift Command ships and provide transportation of vital war material for designated operations.
The MPF is a strategic power-projection capability that combines the lift capacity, flexibility, and responsiveness of surface ships with the speed of strategic airlift.
The Maritime Prepositioning Ships (MPS) of the MPF are strategically forward deployed and provide Geographic Combatant Commanders (GCC) with persistent forward presence and rapid crisis response by prepositioning most of the combat equipment and supplies required to equip and sustain two MEBs for 30 days.
