The swearing in of Maxie Trotter to the Giles County Election Commission created a need for another Sixth District precinct worker.

Trotter replaces the late Henry Inman.

Because Trotter cannot serve on the election commission and work in the Bridgeforth Middle School precinct at the same time, Trotter will give up the precinct position

Micro voting machines of the future, which will leave more of a paper trail, for election officials, were discussed.

Before they can be used, local election officials will need to be certified on proper machine use. The machines will not be used in the 2020 election.

Also, Giles County Superintendent of Roads Barry Hyatt and Assessor of Property Tommy Hyatt have turned in their qualifying papers to run for re-election in 2020.

February 3rd, 2020 is the voter registration deadline with early voting from February 12th until February 25th.
