A Columbia man was arrested Saturday for drug possession after speeding through the city at more than twice the speed limit on a motorcycle.

“The vehicle then ran through a red light and turned left on New Highway 7 and proceeded out bound at speeds over 100 mph,” Deputy Patrick Ryan wrote in his report of the incident.

According to media sources Roland David Rogers, 41, was arrested and charged with speeding, felony evading, simple possession of a Schedule II, IV and VI drugs and unlawful drug paraphernalia by the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.

After being placed under arrest for evading deputies, Rogers’ motorcycle was searched. Deputies found a Ruger 9 mm pistol, about 6 grams of marijuana in a plastic box, less than .5 grams of meth in a white pill bottle and a metal case with rolling papers on his person, the report said.

Rogers was then transported to the Maury County Jail for booking. He has since been released on a $9,000 bond.
