A benefit for Elizabeth Appleton is planned for Aug. 11. Family members say Appleton, known as Lilly Poo, has received a disturbing diagnosis and is unable to care for herself or the five grandchildren she is raising.

Friends and family are invited to gather on the Aug. 11 at the Greater Richland Creek Association Building on Bledsoe Road in support of Appleton. Described as similar to a roast, those who want to sing, recite poetry, quote scripture or just talk about good times shared with Lilly Poo will have a chance to speak. Any financial contribution also will be accepted.
